Ledge has no accounts, and the apps never send your notes to us. This page lists what does reach us, and which services handle it.

Your notes

Notes are Markdown files on your Mac, your iPhone or iPad, or a server you run. When the iOS app or a remote workspace connects to a server, it connects to the server you set up, directly. We never receive your notes, your commands, their output, or your keys.

This website

ledge.sh is hosted on Vercel. Pages use Vercel Web Analytics to count visits. It sets no cookies and does not track you across other sites. For each page view it records the page, the referring site, your country, and your browser, operating system and device type. Visitors are told apart with a hash of the request that resets every day, and your IP address is not stored in the analytics.

Like any web host, Vercel receives your IP address and browser details with each request and keeps request logs for a limited time to run and secure the service.

Update checks

The Mac app checks ledge.sh/updates for a new version when it starts and once a day after that, and whenever you choose Ledge > Check for Updates…. The request names the release channel, operating system and architecture, for example stable-macos-arm64, and like any request it carries your IP address. It carries no account, device ID, or anything from your notes.

We count update checks in Vercel Web Analytics to learn roughly how many copies of Ledge are in use. Each check is recorded like a page view above: the channel, operating system and architecture, your country, and a hash of the request that resets every day. Your IP address is not stored in the analytics. Vercel's request logs, described above, also apply.

Automatic checks are optional. Set updates.automatic to false under This app in Settings (⌘,) and relaunch. Ledge then makes no request unless you choose Check for Updates…, and only those checks are counted.

Downloads and source

The Mac app downloads from GitHub Releases, and updates redirect there too. The iOS app comes through Apple, by TestFlight or the App Store. The source code is on GitHub. Those services handle your requests under their own policies: GitHub and Apple.

What we do not do

• We do not sell or share data with advertisers.
• We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
• We do not build profiles of visitors.
